Born and raised in Richmond, VA, Sean graduated from Penn State with Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in meteorology in the early ‘90s. Before beginning his forecasting career, Sean briefly worked as a federal government contractor at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, where he wrote software to illustrate global water vapor coverage from satellite data.
He turned his career to forecasting from 1995 to 2015, working as a broadcast meteorologist in the Roanoke-Lynchburg, VA television market. Sean earned the AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal in 2006 and became Chief Meteorologist at the ABC affiliate in 2009.
Since 2015, he has worked on the Climate Matters program at Climate Central, providing data and multimedia to support broadcast meteorologists across the United States in their efforts to bring the science and impacts of climate change into their weather presentations and their reporting.
Sean currently resides in suburban Philadelphia.
